Kaninchen
- One minute read - 167 words. After doing a couple of different beer styles I wanted to do a real German beer. So that meant I needed to stick to the “Reinheitsgebot”.
According to the 1516 Bavarian law, the only ingredients that could be used in the production of beer were water, barley and hops. The text does not mention yeast as an ingredient, although yeast was at the time knowingly used in the brewing process.
Although I found it a nice experience to stick to some limitations I do not think I will brew another “Reinheitsgebot” beer again. I find it to limiting and I have absolutely no reason to stick by “Reinheitsgebot” to begin with. I like to experiment and limitations on that would conflict with myself. That being said I am happy to cross this at least from my bucket list.
The name and label where inspired by the German culture and language. Kaninchen is Rabbit in german, and in dutch that in Konijn. (very close to my family name)
