How to Think About Software Engineering (CTO's Perspective)
We are at a unique point in history where there is finally an alternative to human coding. If AI can write the code effectively, what is left for the software engineer?
AWS re:Invent 2025 Recap: Builders, Agents, Sovereignty, and Cost Control
AWS re:Invent 2025 marked a clear inflection point. While innovation remained central, the event shifted from pure feature velocity to a more grounded narrative around builders, control, and operational maturity. Across two recap sessions, several themes stood out: pride in engineering craftsmanship, the rise of agentic architectures, sovereign-ready platforms, and far more predictable cost management.
AWS re:Invent 2025
Discover how AWS partners are leveraging Amazon Bedrock and Kiro to revolutionize both software architecture design and DevSecOps practices. Through real-world examples, explore powerful patterns that enhance the entire development lifecycle. Learn how to use GenAI to accelerate cloud architecture design processes—generating standardized patterns, optimizing configurations, ensuring compliance, and creating documentation. Explore how to integrate AI capabilities with security scanning tools, automated code generation, CI/CD pipelines, and threat modeling frameworks. Go Data Fest
On October 21 I gave a workshop based on the AWS Discovery – Introduction to Prompt Engineering. In this 2 hour workshop I guided the participants through LLM prompts and what certain effects are when you formulate your prompt differently.
Agentic AI with Amazon Bedrock AgentCore
You’ve built prototypes, tested models, and explored what agents could do. Now it’s time to ask: how do you take those ideas into production securely, scalably, and reliably?
AWS Community Day
On September 24, the AWS Community Day was held at Kinepolis, located near the Jaarbeurs in Utrecht. Xebia sponsored the event, so Thomas Wijntjes and Ronnie Bagan were defending the stand throughout the day.
AWS Summit Amsterdam
On April 16th, the AWS Summit in Amsterdam took place. The summit is always a nice place to meet like-minded people from the AWS Community. This year, I had the opportunity to speak about digital sovereignty and resilience. My talk was titled Navigating Digital Sovereignty and Resilience on AWS.
Xebia & Wiz - Enablement Session
Xebia partnered with Wiz, to kick this of I hosted a XKE session together with the Wizards Ida, Jorge and Niek!
Paving your way to success on AWS with your own automated landing zone account creation
15th of April Johannes and I published a recording on how I setup my landing zone. If you have read my blogs you might have noticed that I find joy in automating things. I also automated my AWS account provisioning here is the full recoding of the conversation that we had!
